Moraine Conservation and Sportsman’s Club – Meeting Minutes for August 10, 2015

7:00pm – Board of Directors met prior to the general membership meeting. These are the list of issues that were discussed:

-Steve brought up increasing membership dues since we haven’t raised them since 2008.

The new prices are as follows:            Youth – $5.00              Initiation – $ 15.00

Senior  – $30.00           Spouse – $ 15.00

Life Senior – $300.00 / Spouse – $75.00

-Range rental increases were also discussed to give incentive for weekday range rentals. The new rates are as follows: All day range rental Weekdays – $175.00 and Weekends – $275.00

Half day range rental Weekdays – $100.00 and no discount for weekend rentals.

-Jon read bills and was told to pay them

-Jim wired new exit signs and fixed kitchen sink

-Steve and crew painted doors

-Steve Deal (Deal’s Water Conditioning) donated water softener parts and labor

-Brandy resigned from cleaning the facilities and Jim’s wife Nicole was elected to replace her.

Pledge of Allegiance & Conservation pledge

Introduction of Officers: Bruce sitting in for Kim-Recording Secretary, Mike Cumberland-President, Brian Jesteadt-Membership,  Jon Hiser-Treasurer, Stephen Gustkey-Pistol Team, Bruce Bateman-Trap and Mike Ripley- Junior Rifle and Black Powder.

Last month’s minutes read and accepted

Trap Team: Two shoots in August and Banquet October 4th.

Treasurer’s Report: BOD voted in meeting to pay the bills.

Rental Committee Report: Just had SRU and State Pistol match with PSU scheduled 8/14-16. Hall rental on Aug 22nd.

Black Powder: Had 15 shooters for total of $150 less expenses plus $25 fuel for tractor. Turning in $25. Mike explained meat shoot and Rendezvous coming up Labor Day weekend.

Junior Rifle Team: Went to Camp Perry with 5 shooters bringing home 2 bronze medals and gold medal for Luke who shot 589/600. Junior rifle is going to start back up in November on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month until June then every week until Camp Perry. Mike collected $42 and turning in $29 to club.

Pistol Team: State match had 34 shooters and weather was great. Stephen turned in after expenses $580 to club.

Summer league ends in couple weeks and will be moving indoors in October.

Membership: Brian read all new memberships and welcomed all new members who introduced themselves. He collected $255 in memberships with $220 to General fund and $35 to Maintenance fund. We have approximately 535 members with 126 new this year.

Old Business: Steve needs help in kitchen 8am-2pm Saturday to Monday during Rendezvous. Haven’t started organizing Youth day yet. Jim hung and wired new exit signs donated by Tom Horstman and also fixed the kitchen sink. New doors are coming in this week. Sharon’s program “Sister in Arms” is more than self defense. Women learn to shoot and properly handle firearms safely. Sign up is the last Friday of every month at 6:00pm and the cost is $10 per person. She wants to give $5 per person to club for use. Motion was made to let Sharon use club. Approved. Sharon has waiver papers for participants to sign. Hunter safety is September 15 and 16th.

New Business: Bruce read the new membership rate schedule. Ron made a motion to accept new fees, George second. Found missing pistol frames. Call Art for pop machine repair. Newsletter coming out soon.

Good of the Organization: Ron Miller planted pines in the Rendezvous area. Thank Steve Deal for donating time and parts for water softener repair.

 

8:09 pm – motion was made to adjourn meeting.
